-
How do I know which classes are right for my dancer?Students must be enrolled into the age bracket according to the class descriptions as set out on our website. Please note these do not relate to academic grades at school. Participation in a higher age bracket and class is subject to teacher and management approval. Ballet is the foundation style of all dance and we encourage ALL students to take at least one classical ballet class per week. The training provided in ballet classes will strengthen and enhance technique necessary for all other styles of dance.
-
Where are you located? Our studios are located at 18 Anvil Road, Seven Hills. Click here for a map.
-
Can I book a trial class before enrolling? You sure can! We understand how important a child's first dance experience is and that most parents will prefer to try a class before enrolling for the term. We're sure you will love your first lesson at SDDS, but if you trial a class and decide it's not the right fit at this time, there is no charge. Please view the timetable for your child's age group to choose a suitable class and click here to book.
-
How do I enrol?Registering at SDDS couldn't be easier. Click the Enrol Now link in our menu to see our step-by-step enrolment process or simply click here to complete our Registration Form.
-
Is there an enrolment fee? There is a non-refundable annual enrolment fee of $45.00 per student. The Fee can be paid via cash or direct transfer and returned with the completed enrolment form. This secures your place in the nominated classes.
-
What happens if I miss a class?Students who miss a class for any reason are permitted to make up a maximum of one class per term for the class missed. Makeup lessons must be arranged through the office.
-
What are the fees? Our fees are calculated per age group according to the number of classes. To find out more about fees for your dancer's age group, click the Classes link, choose your dancer's age and download our Information Pack.
-
How do I pay my fees?Invoices are issued 2 weeks prior to the preceding Term. Invoices paid after the due date may be subject to a late fee. Any unpaid accounts will be handed over to the Credit Reference Association. Our preferred payment method is direct debit which will be set up for fortnightly deductions. Please note this will be scheduled for 1 week in advance. Alternatively fees can be paid in full and upfront at the beginning of the term.
-
Is there a uniform and is it compulsory? It’s important that ALL students are dressed accordingly for all classes. This not only ensures students are able to move freely but is also a health and safety requirement. Uniforms are compulsory and must be worn to every class and rehearsals. Students must wear their hair in a neat classical bun for all dance classes and styles. This includes the correct tights and shoes for each class. Uniforms are a part of our safety protocols, to allow our teachers to properly correct technique. Providing training in etiquette excellence, uniforms ensure students are well groomed and presented with pride. To find out more about our uniform, click the Classes link above, choose your dancer's age group and download our Information Pack.
-
Do you offer exams?Exams are optional at SDDS however we do strongly encourage participation for interested students. Not only do exams give students a goal to work towards in class, they also give an immense sense of achievement to the student and lead to professional qualifications recognised worldwide. Our exams are scheduled by the Royal Academy of Dance. As the Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is a worldwide body, we are unable to provide students with an exact exam date at the time of entries. You may be required to take time off school for this exam - if so, SDDS are able to provide a letter for your teacher/principal including details of the exam.
-
Do you have an annual concert? Our annual concert is the culmination of each year and gives all students the opportunity to perform on stage in a professionally-equipped theatre. There are necessary costs involved in the production such as costumes fees and these are advised in a timely manner.
-
What performance opportunities are there?Selection for Performance Groups and Solo’s are at the sole discretion of the Principal, Sonja Dene. Careful consideration is made in the selection process and the suitability of each student including their demonstrated commitment and approach to their classes and the studio.
